Happy Thanksgiving!

We wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!! We celebrated Thanksgiving internationally as Reef to Outback last Thursday so we got a head start. Hope everyone enjoys and celebrates family, friends and the Lord!

Stable on the Strand’s birthday

For the annual Stable on the Strand launch, we celebrated it’s 10th birthday this year! We had a birthday cake, fun games and party hats to kick-off Townsville’s premier Christmas event. Reef to Outback is highly involved every year and we hosted the launch this past week. One great idea is we had a massive pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey, but instead of tails we had to pin Australian notes on the donkey in place of the tail. All night people were pinning notes on the donkey! Josiah snapped a shot of them spinning me blindfolded, i got second place!

All in all it was a great evening and big success of raising finances and getting volunteers. Don’t forget to pray for Stable on the Strand this year; last year over 40,000 people walked through the town of Bethlehem the size of a football field. As they walk through the huge storybook, they hear the true meaning of Christmas: the birth of Jesus Christ. If you’re interested in giving to help bring the gospel to hundreds of Australian families, consider donating $10 — it costs about $10 to sponsor one person to go to Stable. What’s a pirate’s favorite country? Arrrr-gentina! Josiah and I participated in the first Reef to Outback Murder Mystery night. We were all given roles and had dinner and had to solve the mystery of who murdered the famous pirate Rovin’ Reynolds. I was Jean Golddust, the local gold-dealer, and Josiah was Sir William Scott, a member of the elite British Naval Regiment.

We had an absolute blast conning people out of their pirate money, I traded a lot of gold (they were chocolate gold-wrapped coins) and Josiah loved using his sword and somehow stole someone’s revolver in the mix of the pirate-sailor fight! Enjoy our photos!

Office Space

Since coming back from the Cape York Tour, I have been working with one of my good friends in Immigration. The east coast of YWAM bases in Australia submit their visa applications for volunteers all through our office to keep it standard.

Lately it’s been really busy, meaning there are a lot of YWAM volunteers applying to come to Australia! Due to Reef to Outback being assesed through an audit, Naomi was extra busy with her hands in two different piles. So I’ve been helping and love it! I know, I like paperwork, I’m kinda weird. It’s okay, Josiah already knew that.

So that’s what I’ve been up to since the end of August!

Check out this video our friend made; it’s a YouthStreet day

Speaking at Youth Street Live

Every Saturday night we run Youth Street Live: an event from 5:30 – 10:00pm that welcomes 12-17 year olds to come and hang out in a safe environment with a pool table, ping-pong, Wii, basketball, café/tuck shop, 180 hour which consists of a band and a speaker, and Ignite, a discipleship opportunity for teenagers who want to know God more.

Well, I was asked to speak for this past Saturday on “Image” and IT ROCKED! I loved getting to share a little about my story and how God has made us so unique and special and we have a purpose in life, and it’s definitely not to allow the world to dictate who we should look and act like. You can find a couple of videos I showed called “evolution” and “Amy” at this link: http://www.dove.us/#/features/videos/videogallery.aspx/ . This link is Dove’s Campaign for Real Beauty and I love it.

At one point I forgot my train of thought, so I suggest if anyone ever does that, I had all the kids hum together all at once. It actually helped me remember what I was going to say in an entertaining way!

Josiah took a few pictures; I really enjoyed it. We have something so valuable to share with others; the story of Jesus in every aspect of our lives.
