Office Space

Since coming back from the Cape York Tour, I have been working with one of my good friends in Immigration. The east coast of YWAM bases in Australia submit their visa applications for volunteers all through our office to keep it standard.

Lately it’s been really busy, meaning there are a lot of YWAM volunteers applying to come to Australia! Due to Reef to Outback being assesed through an audit, Naomi was extra busy with her hands in two different piles. So I’ve been helping and love it! I know, I like paperwork, I’m kinda weird. It’s okay, Josiah already knew that.

So that’s what I’ve been up to since the end of August!

Check out this video our friend made; it’s a YouthStreet day

Speaking at Youth Street Live

Every Saturday night we run Youth Street Live: an event from 5:30 – 10:00pm that welcomes 12-17 year olds to come and hang out in a safe environment with a pool table, ping-pong, Wii, basketball, café/tuck shop, 180 hour which consists of a band and a speaker, and Ignite, a discipleship opportunity for teenagers who want to know God more.

Well, I was asked to speak for this past Saturday on “Image” and IT ROCKED! I loved getting to share a little about my story and how God has made us so unique and special and we have a purpose in life, and it’s definitely not to allow the world to dictate who we should look and act like. You can find a couple of videos I showed called “evolution” and “Amy” at this link: http://www.dove.us/#/features/videos/videogallery.aspx/ . This link is Dove’s Campaign for Real Beauty and I love it.

At one point I forgot my train of thought, so I suggest if anyone ever does that, I had all the kids hum together all at once. It actually helped me remember what I was going to say in an entertaining way!

Josiah took a few pictures; I really enjoyed it. We have something so valuable to share with others; the story of Jesus in every aspect of our lives.

YWAM Reef to Outback iNews Episode 18.

Check out the latest episode of the ywam reef to outback video news.
In this edition of the iNews Fiona Saxby fills in for Anna as the host. Fiona shows you some pictures from around our center. She sits down and has a chat with one of my good friends Nick Verwymeren who is this months featured staff of the month. You’ll also hear from Rebekah Hoover who talks about communications in missions. Enjoy!

The Cape York Tour wrapped up a few weeks ago and my life has been changed forever! This particular outreach was inventive, fun and impacting, and I want to share a bit about how your prayers and financial support actually impacted hundreds of others.

Here’s a small overview: a team of hip-hop and break dancers called M3, a team of strongmen and athletes called Team Xtreme, a cultural dance team from Fiji, Tonga and Australia and a few logistic people all packed into three 4WD’s and headed into the Cape York region to do performances that visually demonstrate stories and to evangelise to the remote indigenous communities that are in desperate need of hope and redemption for four weeks.

The statistics look a little like this:
•    1911 people attended the events
•    326 people made decisions for Christ
•    4,000 kilometers of road were traveled
•    160 steel bars were bent (on purpose as part of Team Xtreme’s performance)
•    We had one bent trailer axle and another trailer with a broken spring;
• And a few squished dancers who shared the packed vehicles with some very large Team Xtreme guys travelling for days on corrugated roads

I absolutely loved getting to dance and share my story of how Jesus Christ changed my life, I was able to share a story of hope to so many hopeless hearts. Something within me burst to life during the outreach as I really walked in two of the things I love to do; publicly declare truth and a story of hope, and to dance! It was just so awesome.

There are some of my favorite stories out of the MANY in this PDF newsletter you can download. There are pictures and stories and a BIG THANK YOU to you! :) Email us if you have problems downloading it.
