Here are YWAM Reef to Outback we are running a concert this Saturday called a Voice in the Dark . The Concert will start at 7:00pm EST Australia on Saturday the 22nd of March.
We will be raising awareness of issues of injustice in this world. We will be making a difference. We will be showing the youth of our community how they can be a difference. We will be raising money for the Tamar Center, which is based in Thailand. We are planning on streaming the concert live. Once we start you should be able to watch it in the player above. There are issues going on in the world that people need to know about. There are people in this world that don’t have a voice. We can be that voice. We can make a difference. Yeah, the most repeated word that morning was “PUSH!!”
Josiah is currently redoing bits and pieces of our promotional DVD and some media material and needed current, updated footage of our 4WD Oka that we use to reach isolated communities up north. So we recruited 15 people and at 6am in the morning we journeyed out to go 4-wheel-driving through some creeks.
And then, at 6:30am (we hadn’t even gotten footage yet!) we were driving through a rain forest and absolutely SANK the back tire. It was completely covered in mud. That began the long morning of “PUSH!!!”
Even though it rained the entire time and it was cold and there was lots of mud, it was still an adventure and kind of fun. I mean, who gets stuck in an Australian rain forest and push out a 3.6 ton 4WD?! (No mom, I didn’t see any snakes, but I did get a spider bite).
The girls were picked up around 11am but Josiah and the boys stayed to get it out until 4:30pm! Doing his laundry wasn’t very exciting, everything was muddy.
Josiah should post some actual footage of us pushing it out soon, but in the meantime enjoy these crazy pictures!

Last Friday I was able to participate in my first ever AusLife! AusLife is an all day program designed for high schoolers powered by Youth For Christ that we often get involved with and promote. Each AusLife is action packed with heaps of games, small group times, videos and question & answer sessions that is focused on one specific issue (drugs & alcohol, self-esteem, bullying, violence, etc) that the school principal or high-schoolers request.
The one I was involved with was focused on Self-Esteem and we did the AusLife at an all-boys Catholic high school. I was afraid to play tag because I would of gotten stampeded! The day was such an experience because as some of you may know, you’re allowed to talk about God in Australian schools. It was so awesome to get to share my own story of how I struggled with (and sometimes still do) self-esteem issues in high school and how nothing built me up and made me confident besides Jesus. I think I was expecting to be given a hard time about being a Christian, but the youth are hungry for answers. They asked me tons of questions in my small group and I was stoked to get to strike a match for them and hand it to them; however it’s their choice to light a fire or not.
So, it was a fun day! I was exhausted afterwards though! Here’s a picture of my ministry area; Me, Ania, Amelia and Shauna, and we’re holding Katie who’s volunteering with us for a month.
Every Saturday here at YWAM Reef to Outback we run a program for youth in community called Youth Street. There are two parts of Youth Street. Youth Street Teams which runs from 2:00pm-5:30pm, and Youth Street Live which runs from 5:30pm-10:00pm. Crissa and I have been involved in Youth Street Live sense we started it a couple of years ago. I was also involved with Youth Street Teams for a while as part of the Skate team. Crissa has had a lot of involvement with the Dance Team. Youth Street Teams was made of four teams. Skate, Dance, Music, and Sport. This past weekend, we added two teams to Youth Street Teams. We added an Art Team, and a Media Team. It’s really exciting to have two new teams. We are hoping this will help Youth Street grow a lot. I am helping to lead the Media Team. I am very excited to get to work with a group of youth from our community. I hope to see them gain some skills and have some fun.
