Moving time!

moving_6.jpg

Well, after working for a few weeks on our living room and kitchen floor, tidying up and redoing a counter in the kitchen of our new flat, it’s finally time to move!

moving_7.jpg

So this week we’ve been packing up and moving a couple of blocks, and moving isn’t always fun. We’ve had a few events on this week, so moving in-between work is wearing us out. Which in turn (I believe) is what has caused me (Crissa) to come down with a horrible cold and not even get out of bed for a few days. In the midst of moving! So please, please pray for us as we transition and for the both of us to stay healthy. I just want to throw in a side note that Josiah is such a wonderful husband…he’s pampered me and made sure I’ve had water and soup and medicine on my nightstand this past week and done all of the hard work with moving. He is a wonderful, wonderful husband and I am very fortunate.

We would really appreciate everyone’s prayers for rest and to stay healthy these next couple of weeks.

Enjoy the pictures of the final floors! (And go ahead and tell us what a great job we did…LOL…it was a lot more work than I had expected but it’s finally done!)

Bringing the World Together…

Last night I got to be a part of a GENESIS (video conferencing) meeting with five other Youth With A Mission bases (Hawaii, England, Philippines, South Korea, and Switzerland).

GENESIS.jpg

We got together to talk about YWAM Communications Schools. Video conferencing is an amazing tool. It’s awesome because we are able to do it for free through the Internet.
The purpose for our meeting was to get Communications Leaders together to talk about the schools we are running, and to talk about things are working and not working. It was awesome to have six locations together sharing dreams and visions for what we want to see happened, and what we believe God wants to do.
I will be involved in helping to lead a communications school here in July, called a Media in Missions-School of Design. I will share more about the school in the future. I just want to share about this cool experience. It’s exciting that we as a YWAM family are getting together to work together. We want to see His kingdom come all over the earth, and we want to use media to do that.

We love homemade apple pie

One thing I do love is baking! I’m not excellent at it, but thank goodness my great-grandma was excellent in the kitchen and I’ve received some of her genes.

One of my favorite includes home-made apple pie; I love making the crust and feeling like Patty Dean! And Josiah absolutely loves apple pie so we both win!

Here’s a picture of the one I made last weekend…enjoy! (It’s already gone)

Ken Mulligan - Townsville’s Citizen of the Year

australiaday_13.jpg

Ken and Robyn Mulligan pioneered Reef to Outback in 1992 here in Townsville. Their family moved hours north to establish a Youth With A Mission base in one of the least popular cities in Australia. After years of service to Townsville, the surrounding Townsville region and even the Asia/Pacific region, Ken Mulligan, our base director, was recognized as Citizen of the Year!

As the Mayor of Townsville recommended Reef to Outback to the city of Townsville, we’ve found so much support from the community and local businesses. As a Christian missions organization we’re being recognized for what we believe in, not just what we do. It is absolutely awesome how God is calling more and more young people from all over the world to Townsville, Australia and how God is empowering young people into missions through the things we love: dance, music, skate, sports, youth, etc.

A monsoon’s a comin’

stormclouds_2.jpg

Apparently it’s monsoon season here in Townsville. The wind has been raging and howling and it just keeps raining and raining and raining.

Josiah took this picture of the palm tree that was literally blown out of it’s trunk! It only did a little damage to the house next to us but the noise gave us a scare. Hopefully things die down a little; however the wind is wonderful compared to the blazing sun and humidity!
