This past weekend Josiah and I were both invited to go to a Leadership Retreat. It was a weekend specifically for developing leaders here at Reef to Outback, and we talked about our ministry as Reef to Outback and our values or “DNA” as Youth With A Mission and where we’re going. We both felt privileged to be asked to take part in more leadership with Reef to Outback.
The weekend was nice to get away, we went over to Maggie Island and stayed in a nice house and just got to know each other a bit more over games and meals. We had quite a few meetings though! The more people, the longer the meeting I found…LOL!
I think one of my highlights over the weekend was talking about who we are as Reef to Outback and what our purpose and focus is as a missions organization. YWAM and RTO are definitely not the be all and end all, but just a tool for people to partner with to use their giftings as individuals in the body of Christ. Part of our anointing as YWAM is to be apostolic, and we got to discuss what apostolic actually meant. I didn’t really understand the word, but someone explained it quite well with different options:
1. Apostolic is to hear God’s voice and implement vision and passion you have within you
2. Apostolic is to get behind and believe with others vision and support them
3. Apostolic is to be in the presence of people who are extremely visionary; you eventually grab what they’re saying, like an impartation.
I was encouraged to know that part of being apostolic is supporting other’s vision because I’m pretty good at that right now…at the moment I’m not a Billy Graham, but I am making a difference in my area and seeking improvements and what can be done on daily basis; that’s still apostolic. And everyone who believes in Josiah and I and what we’re doing, all the prayer, words of encouragement and finances, that’s being apostolic with us. Which excites me. You make a difference in this nation and in this region of the world!
This picture is a great one because we had to take our own food and I wrote “Ritner” on all our tupperware! (The small things that excite me!)
